Princesses
In princesse series, the imperfections intentionally left by the porcelain molding and slip casting technique contrast with the image of perfection carried by the doll. The popularity of the Barbie dolls and their stories unconsciously represents the definition of female beauty and reveals the feminine standards imposed by socio-cultural environments. Future generations who will consider it as a toy will also be influenced by this didactic vision. The fragments of Barbie’s porcelain body in my jewelry, express my doubts and struggles with feminine norms. What are the standards of a model daughter, a best girlfriend, a perfect wife, an exemplary mother… We always strive to fulfill the roles in the eyes of others and ourselves, but we seldom have the awareness and courage to face ourselves. Although women have now gained some freedom, it is still difficult to get rid of the old moral control exercised by society and the family over them.
